Check Out the First Videos Captured in My Study. You Won't Believe What the Camera Captured!

I am so pleased to show you the first videos from my trail cam. Meet the species Urcyon cinereoargenteus, also known as the Gray Fox. This an exciting find for me because the projects focus is densities of urban carnivores.

See below for a video and more information on this beautiful species. The caption tells you all about the Gray Fox as well as its important role in the environment. It is so fun to see this animal in its natural habitat. Get a look at that tail!

Aside from the Gray Fox sighting, the camera had four more triggers that night. I included only 3 of the sightings in the video below. I excluded one of the triggers because it was very difficult to tell what animal it was. All animals who are too far from the camera to observe and log accurately will be placed into the "Uncertain" category for the study. See graph below.

In conclusion, it has been nine days since I started my urban wildlife study. So far a total of 5 animals have triggered the sensor on the camera. As these sightings start to come in, one can look at the correlation between observations and various factors that the camera provides. For example I will be looking at relationships such as observations vs time of day, observations vs moon phase, observations vs temperature, etc. Examining these relationships will tell me a lot about urban wildlife at SCNC.
